What Type of Bike do I Need?

The route is a mix of gravel trails, tow paths and mixed wooded routes along with rural country lanes.

A Gravel or Adventure bike would be ideal as would a Cross Country (XC) style MTB either hardtail or full suspension. Similarly, a Cyclo-cross (CX) bike would work great too.

What wouldn't work so well are hybrids or road bikes.

The routine will be up to 70% off road making this not suitable. Your bike must be capable of going off road and whilst not scary or technical, the route may incur slippery surfaces, bumpy and rocky sections too.
E-Bike Detail

Both gravel orientated and MTB E-Bikes are now supported for the main ride, in order for you to ride one, you must make sure of the following:

1. Your e-bike is capable of doing 80mile + on a single charge, there will be times when you don't need the assistance to you can switch off to help.

2. You MUST bring your charger with you and all necessary leads and uk to euro adapter so that it can be charged overnight. We will not have any spares so if it goes flat and you have no means of charging, thats a long heavy ride for you!

3. We will have the facility to do a short charge at the main lunch stop only. Please do not ask if it can be done at any other time as the answer will be "no, sorry". the support vehicle will be catering for up to 3 groups and so any delays will impact other groups.

4. When entering, please comment that you will be using an E-bike or better still, drop us an email.

5. Don't try and blag the free beer  when we get to the hotel each night if you make it to the top of one of the 'Beer Challenge Climbs', sorry but you've got assistance!
